Free from the slavery of sinning

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  (John 8:31-32)

34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave[b] to sin. 35  The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8-34-36)

For sure, liberty for human beeings, true liberty,  aught to be the right to choose righteousness before a life in sin. Regardless of how our lives turn out to be lived, if we cant make THAT choice we are bound to destroy ourselves. And if we silence others we silence ourselves.

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.  (Matthew 5:13)

The salt preserves.

a bruised reed he will not break,
    and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;
he will faithfully bring forth justice. (Isaiah 42:3)

11 “The days are coming,” declares the Sovereign LORD,
“when I will send a famine through the land—
not a famine of food or a thirst for water,
but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.
12 People will stagger from sea to sea
and wander from north to east,
searching for the word of the LORD,
but they will not find it. (Amos 8:11-12)

Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they werebeautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose.

And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive[a] with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Then the Lord[b] saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” (Genesis 6:1-7)

From our bible version of Genesis, that is about these “sons of God” or rather heavenly creatures sent to watch over the humans, its easy to missunderstand the text and think that all evil is our own fault. That God find that all we think and do is evil and that He is sorry for ever creating us. But in the jewish text ” The book of Jubilee”(Genesis in other words, so to speak) or the book of Henok, the truth is clear. The key to the truth that Jesus is talking about?!

I dont believe that Eve and Adam “found God out” by eating the forbidden fruit and gaining visdom, rather finding out that there are creatures of heaven and  man of the earth. And the spring of lifegiving water that Jesus talks about – holy Spirit,  renders us only good and righteous gifts aiding us mentally and emotionally. I do hope it also renders us safety from unwanted spiritual influence and effects!!!  We are indeed poor in spirit…how dearly do we not need this help and defence from God.
